Announcing the next VMN Basic Training in Rocky Mount!

The Blue Ridge Foothills And Lakes (BRFAL) Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalist Program (VMN) is now accepting applications for you to participate in the next Virginia Master Naturalist Basic Training!

The 2012 Virginia Master Naturalist Basic Training Course which will be conducted from the first week of March to approximately the 20th of May. Classes are held at The Franklin Center in Rocky Mount on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:30 PM and several Saturday field trips are included. Topics covered include: geology, entomology, aquatic ecology, plants, reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, etc.  All with a Virginia emphasis. More information and applications are available on our website: www.brfal.org

The cost for this program is $100.  We have many find sponsors who underwrite this fantastic program to make it affordable (see the list below). 

The BRFAL training program is designed to prepare individuals as Certified Virginia Master Naturalists for the statewide corps of master naturalist volunteers carrying out the Virginia Master Naturalist Program mission of “providing education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities”.  As such, it will provide the background knowledge and opportunity for skills development necessary to be effective as a volunteer Certified Virginia Master Naturalist. The Virginia Master Naturalist Program is sponsored jointly by Virginia Cooperative Extension, the
Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Virginia Department of Forestry, the Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the Virginia Museum of Natural History, and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
