BRFAL Chapter Family Picnic - June 2, 2013

Thanks to the hard work and organization skills of Shellie Leete, many of our members got to enjoy the BRFAL Annual Picnic at the SML State Park.  Although our planned hike got washed out, the covered pavilion provided a nice dry spot to enjoy the cooking skills of our members for our Pot Luck picnic.

 In addition to eating very well, we presented our Past President Guy Buford with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by our members thanking him for his 6 years of leading our group and getting BRFAL kicked off in fine style.  Then our guest speaker Nancy Heltman, Director of Operations for Virginia State Parks gave a brief presentation about the value of volunteers to the State Parke system.  We also raffled of a copy of Flora Virginica a huge tome containing all the flora of Virginia.

 We then ended our activities with a game of “Guess my name” starring Dick Donnelly, Meg Brager and Dick Hendrix.  Needless to say, a good time was had by all!
