It’s beautiful out there!

Early Ice Storm
"'Hear! hear!' screamed the jay from a neighboring tree, where I had heard a tittering for some time, 'winter has a concentrated and nutty kernel, if you know where to look for it.'"
- Henry David Thoreau

How easy it can be to withdraw into the house, woodstove warm and smelling of roasting dinners. But wait! There is so much beauty to be found when we just dare to step into the cold, sometimes wet, but always great outdoors. Winter beauty can be different, more subtle, requiring more effort on our part to see.

Grassy Hill Lichen

Here is a challenge for each of you: Find a beautiful thing out of doors, daily, for the next 30 days. If you can, take a picture but if you can’t then jot down a description so we can see it along with you. Send your observations and photos to me charlottehubbard7@gmail.com and I will post them on our BRFAL blog.

So layer up, put on your woolly socks and get out into the air… I can’t wait to see what you find!
