Thank you all for responding
to the call for photos! So much is happening out there with spring in full
bloom, please keep them coming.
Catherine E, one of our
newest VMN Basic Training students, submitted these pictures of camouflage in
action.
Here is how Catherine describes the encounter:
The
first picture is of a common northern water snake eating a silver minnow. We
were lucky enough to watch him catch and eat his lunch! While trying to swallow
such a big fish, he disturbed an otherwise undetected leopard frog from his camouflaged
hiding spot…he startled us all! The frog swam to shore to get away from the
snake and allowed us to get pretty close.
