Orchardgrass, Dactylis glomerata L. |
This interesting photo from
Donna H shows how even the grasses around us can be beautiful and interesting. This orchardgrass, Dactylis glomerata L., was found at BTWNM on a
recent outing.
According to Allied Seed,
LLC, orchardgrass can be beneficial to many classes of livestock as hay,
pasture or silage. Because of its dense roots, it can provide good erosion
control. Wildlife benefit from the clumping growth of orchardgrass for
nesting, brood rearing, escape and winter cover especially for upland game
birds. https://www.alliedseed.com/orchardgrass/
