New Trail

Thanks to our chapter's Trail Project at Franklin County High School, students and facility now have a new and outdoor learning space.  The project idea was conceived by one of the science faculty, a Virginia Master Naturalist. A walking path through mature woods on the school property includes permanent tree identification tags, and there are plans to laminate leaf specimens for laminated study keys and a install a mediation area.

Students are using and enjoying the trail! Our hope is that the trail will peak their interest in environmental studies and preservation. And the trail may also provide a space for quiet reflection.
