Save Our Streams Training Day

Charlotte, Connie, Geoff, Jean and Lee showed up in force to give a day long Save Our Streams (SOS) classroom and stream orientation.  Four new SOS trainees from the Smith Mountain Lake watershed and six guest trainees from Grayson County joined in. The Grayson County volunteers will be the only certified monitors in their home area.

After Connie's morning instruction on stream ecology, the training moved on to Jack O'Lantern Creek at the Booker T. Washington National Monument. The trainees proved to be an inquisitive and outgoing group and every one of them stayed until the completion of the training day.  While we did have three field tables set up, it often got a bit crowded, as can be seen photo above.

Thanks to Bob for helping to organize the training! And to all who came out to Save Our Streams!
