VINYL workshop June 26 - July 1 in Martinsville

VINYL sign-up deadline is June 13
The Virginia Museum of Natural History and Joseph Cornell’s Sharing Nature Worldwide are teaming up to offer a first-of-its-kind professional development opportunity. Designed for teachers, environmental educators, and community leaders, VINYL will combine Sharing Nature activities and youth leadership development strategies and feature fieldClick to Enlarge trips to nearby parks.  VINYL takes place June 26 - July 1.
VINYL is designed for educators to:
  • Awaken curiosity and increased respect for nature.
  • Gain valuable insights and strategies to increase youth leadership in school-based clubs, scouting, faith-based groups, and after-school programs.
  • Participate in nature and youth leadership presentations by enthusiastic and leading professionals with keynote address and introductory workshop led by Joseph Cornell.
  • Join a state-wide network of nature-based organizations in support of youth leadership.
VINYL participants will enjoy:
  • Receptions and catered meals throughout the week.
  • Group discounts at the Jamison Inn.
  • A comprehensive Sharing Nature/Youth Leadership Education Guide.
Fee: $100. A limited number of need-based scholarships will be available on a first-come, first- served basis. Priority will be given to Martinsville-Henry County educators, and members or organizations that reach underrepresented populations.

VINYL workshop has been approved as Advanced Training through out the state for Virginia Master Naturalists.
