You quickly leave traffic sounds behind and are surrounded by bird calls (which I could identify if I were a decent Master Naturalist!)
It's a beautiful little slice of nature right off the highway. Parts of the trail loop around holding ponds for the water treatment facility in Roanoke so it's supposed to be a great place to spot water fowl.
