As stated on the Virginia Master Naturalist (VMN) web page, the “Virginia Master Naturalist Program is a statewide corps of volunteers providing education, outreach, and service (italics are mine) dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities.” http://www.virginiamasternaturalist.org/who-we-are.html

BRFAL member and past president, Rick W fulfilled the educator role 11/9 when he delivered a community program at the Phoebe Needles Center for Lifelong Learning. Rick’s program included an overview of the geologic history of the earth and the forces that over the past billion years have created the five physiographic provinces of Virginia. The presentation included discussion of select local natural community classes and offered participants insights into how our natural surroundings came to be as they are.
Rick also shared an engaging description of VMN and some
of the impacts our local chapter is having. Thanks, Rick, for sharing your
expertise and enthusiasm!
