Picture of the Day: Hickory Sunrise

Rick Watson braved the early chill to get this shot of the morning sun peeking through the yellow-orange compound leaves of the mockernut hickory or “white hickory” Carya tomentosa (tree in foreground). The nuts are so sweet and tasty that Rick declares,"The squirrels like them even more than I do!"
